Why We Exist

Sembrando un Futuro provides computers and technical support to students and young professionals who need access to technology for education, work, and professional development. The program currently focuses on people in Guatemala who may not have reliable access to a computer.

Why Technology Matters

Coursework, research, online learning, job applications, and professional development increasingly require a computer. Without one, capable and motivated people are left out of opportunities that should be within reach.

Why We Reuse Computers

A working laptop sitting unused in a drawer has real value. Reuse extends the life of good hardware, keeps devices out of landfills, and turns a dormant asset into access for someone who needs it.

Our Lending Model

We operate on a lending and reuse philosophy rather than a one-way giveaway. A recipient uses the computer for as long as they need it. When they no longer do, the device can be returned, serviced, prepared again, and placed with someone else.

This means one computer can help several people over time.

Technical Support

Receiving a computer is only the beginning. Whenever possible we provide setup help, basic troubleshooting, software assistance, updates, and answers to general technology questions.

Our Commitment to Donors

We securely wipe every donated device before it is reused, so your data does not travel with the hardware.

We will be straightforward about what we have accomplished and what we have not. We do not publish numbers, outcomes, or claims about our legal status that we cannot support.

Our Commitment to Recipients

We treat recipients as capable people pursuing education and professional goals — not as objects of charity. We protect their privacy, publish nothing about them without permission, and provide support rather than leaving them on their own.
