THE PROGRAM

How It Works

Donate. Wipe. Prepare. Match. Deliver. Support. Return. Reuse.

From a drawer in the United States to a desk in Guatemala

Sembrando un Futuro is built around reuse. The goal is not simply to give away computers — it is to create access, opportunity, and a sustainable cycle of technology reuse.

1. Donate

People in the United States donate working computers and laptops they no longer use.

2. Securely wipe

Before a device is reused, the previous owner’s data is securely removed.

3. Prepare

The device is inspected, reset, configured, and prepared. Learning resources and appropriate software may be installed.

4. Match

Students and young professionals apply, and we match a prepared device to a specific need.

5. Deliver

The computer is delivered to the recipient.

6. Support

Recipients receive technical assistance and guidance whenever possible — they aren’t left alone.

7. Return

When a recipient no longer needs the computer, it can be returned to the program.

8. Reuse

The device is cleaned, serviced, and prepared again — ready to help someone else.

And then it starts again.

Because devices come back, one donated computer can potentially help several people over its lifetime.
